Authorities say officers responded to a noise complaint at the home of New York Rangers player Sean Avery in the 8000 block of Highland Terrace at about 1 a.m.
Police say when Avery answered the front door, he shoved an officer and then slammed the door shut. But when officers knocked a second time, police say he was cooperative.
The 31-year-old hockey player was booked on suspicion of battery on a police officer. He was held on $20,000 bail.
The officer was not injured.
