An Eyewitness News viewer captured a picture of lifeguards and fire personnel attending to the 10-year-old at Sunset Beach on Friday.
Witnesses said a tunnel the boy had been digging with other beachgoers caved in on top of him. The tunnel was about 2 feet deep and 4 feet long.
On Wednesday, a teenager was trapped under several feet of sand at Newport Beach, when a tunnel he had been digging caved in.
He is also expected to be fine.
