Schwarzenegger's daughter speaks out about breakup

August 10, 2011 12:54:08 AM PDT
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's eldest daughter spoke out about her parents' breakup and more in an interview with Harper's Bazaar.

Katherine Schwarzenegger talked about the difficulty of being forced into the media spotlight when it was revealed her dad fathered a child with another woman.

She fled to London after her parents separated, in part to escape a storm of unwanted attention, saying she wanted to "go away and realize that it's not as big a deal in other places."

The 21-year-old told the magazine she thought about changing her name, but not because of the scandal.

"I thought of changing it because, especially for dating, it's impossible. When I got to college, people - much more guys than girls because girls don't give a crap about bodybuilding - were coming up to me, and it would automatically jump to a conversation about my dad and weight lifting or how to do a proper bicep curl," she said. "It's like, 'Do you want to date my father, or do you want to date me?'"

Katherine Schwarzenegger never mentioned her now-teenaged half-brother in the interview.
