Jennifer Love Hewitt is set to star in a new Lifetime series based on the cable network's television film "The Client List," although this time, her character is more than just a massage therapist - she appears to be a madam.

The 32-year-old actress will also serve as an executive producer of the show, which will debut in 2012, according to a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com on Wednesday, August 10.

The new series tells of a Texas housewife who begins working at a day spa after her husband deserts her and leaves her in deep financial straits, Lifetime's statement said, adding: "When she realizes massages aren't the only services on the menu, she quickly grabs the opportunity to relieve her financial hardships by partnering with the parlor's feisty and disorganized owner to run the business."

In the 2010 film, her character remains married and works at the spa as a massage therapist who, like her co-workers, performs sexual services for her clients, including powerful businessmen.

The cable network said it has ordered 10 episodes of the new "Client List" show.

"The series will follow her as she delicately balances two starkly different lives - one as a single mom in a conservative town struggling to provide for her family and the other as a savvy and ambitious businesswoman working with a rowdy, sexy and unpredictable group of women," Lifetime's statement said.

Hewitt added: "I am thrilled to be working with the fantastic team at Lifetime again. After hearing Lifetime's vision for the new direction of the network, as well as the amazing level of talent they are working with, I knew I wanted to partner with them in making quality television."

Hewitt told OnTheRedCarpet.com last year that she found her role in "the Client Life" movie to be empowering because her character becomes the family's breadwinner.

Hewitt rose to fame playing Sarah Reeves on the family drama series "Party of Five" in the 1990s. She later starred in a spin-off, "Time of Your Life" and also appeared in movies such as "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and a sequel, Can't Hardly Wait" and "Heartbreakers." She played main character Melinda Gordon on the series "Ghost Whisperer," which ran between 2005 and 2010.

Last year, Hewitt also played a rape victim on the NBC crime drama series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." It was reported in May that she was in talks to become a cast member on the show, but the network never confirmed this.

This year, Hewitt appeared on an episode of the TV Land sitcom "Hot In Cleveland," which stars Betty White.

Hewitt recently filmed the movie "Jewtopia" and posted a photo of herself from the set on Wednesday on her Twitter page (pictured above). The romantic comedy film tells of a man who pretends to be Jewish in order to win the affection of his love interest.

"Jewtopia" is set for release in 2012 and also stars "Hot In Cleveland" cast member Wendie Malick, Jamie-Lynn Sigler of "The Sopranos" and "Entourage," former "Desperate Housewives" star Nicollette Sheridan, Rita Wilson, Tom Arnold, Jon Lovitz, Crystal Reed and "Step By Step" actress Christine Lakin.
