Umami, which GQ magazine named America's "burger of the year" last year, has received financial backing from sbe and Nimes Capital for more than 30 restaurants across the country, including New York, Miami and Texas.
Currently, Umami Burger has five locations in the Los Angeles area and is building a new flagship location at the Grove. Company officials also announced plans to open a restaurant in San Francisco this fall.
