A new meter program may change how much you pay to park in downtown Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles City Council has approved a pilot program called ExpressPark.

It will use sensors and other technology to measure demand at thousands of sidewalk meters and spaces in public parking facilities.

The paper says officials will then adjust the cost of meters based on demand at various times throughout the day and on how long motorists stay in each space.
