'Bad Hair Bandit,' accomplice arrested in CA

AUBURN, Calif.

Cynthia Van Holland, 47, is suspected in up to 20 bank robberies in four western states: California, Montana, Oregon and Washington state.

She got the nickname from the unflattering wigs she used to disguise herself. Tellers say she often stood in line like a normal customer, then handed a note saying she was armed and wanted cash.

Van Holland was arrested after a bank robbery this week in Auburn, Calif.

Her alleged getaway driver, 26-year-old Christopher Alonzo, also was arrested.

The FBI believes they met when she worked as a nurse at an Idaho prison where he was doing time.

The couple married on March 14 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. On the marriage license, Van Holland indicated she was living in Tacoma, Wash., the city where the series of bank holdups began in December 2010.
