The plane landed safely on the airport's southernmost runway shortly after 2 a.m. Some sparks shot from under the right-side of the plane, but apparently no one was injured. The plane had 197 people on board.
The pilot reported a problem with the airliner's right landing gear. Air traffic controllers cleared a runway and had firefighters standing by before the plane touched down.
Correction: In an earlier version of the story, we stated that the plane dumped jet fuel over the ocean in preparation for the landing, but the Boeing 757 does not have that capability.
