James "Glen" Croker, the lead singer for the Cajun band, Hackberry Ramblers, has died after years of declining health, according to a fellow band member. He was 77.

The singer died Tuesday. His family thought he had a heart attack, drummer Ben Sandmel said.

Croker started playing with the band in 1959. The band was founded in 1933 by fiddler Luderin Darbone and accordionist Edwin Duhon.

Hackberry Ramblers earned a Grammy nomination for its 1997 song "Deep Water."
