New app offers IE restaurant info on the go

Diners in the Inland Empire have a new on-the-go resource to find health information about restaurants.

The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Services is upgrading its website and also launching a site that can be used on smartphones including the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices.

The new mobile site allows patrons to search restaurant grades as well as find out about inspections and food recalls. The mobile site also offers other health and safety related information including substandard hotels or motels and unhealthy public pools.

Diners can even submit complaints.

The department also said its Facebook folllowers can receive updates on food safety, vector control and drowning prevention.
