Deputy patrols increased on Metro rail lines

September 6, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is beefing up patrols on the Metro rail.

The increased number of deputies is due in part to recent stabbings.

Last month, Gold Line passengers saw a man pull a knife and stab another passenger.

A week before that, a man was fatally stabbed on the Red Line in Hollywood.

These kinds of attacks are unusual, but the sheriff's department thought it best to add more patrols.
