SAG National President Ken Howard made the announcement Thursday, saying Mary Tyler Moore "embodies the spirit behind SAG's Life Achievement Award, and we are honored to proclaim her as its 48th recipient."
The 74-year-old actress and humanitarian will be presented with the award at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012.
Moore is known for her roles in "The Dick Van Dyke Show" in the 1960s and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" in the 1970s.
She has since appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, including "Hot in Cleveland" and "That '70s Show."
