Volkswagen recalls 30,000 Jettas to fix tailpipes

DETROIT

The recall affects the 2011 and 2012 models.

Government safety experts say the car's tailpipes can stick out too far and burn people. Volkswagen began receiving complaints about the issue in July and began investigating.

Volkswagen said Monday that fewer than 10 people have complained of burns, but a specific number wasn't available.

Dealers will inspect cars facing recall and replace the exhaust tips for free if necessary.
