A 3-year-old girl was killed by the gunfire. The woman was shot in the neck and was critically injured. Another 3-year-old girl, the woman's daughter, was critically wounded as well. The woman is five months pregnant.
The shooting happened about 7:40 p.m. in the 1300 block of North D Street, described by authorities as an area known for drug and gang activity.
Authorities said an unknown suspect shot from outside the home, injuring the three victims.
"It sounded like a horror movie, like if somebody got shot and they were screaming," said Lauren Chavelaz, who was nearby at the time.
One neighbor said he heard about eight gunshots and lots of screams.
No arrests have been made.
