OTRC: Chaz Bono opens up about 'Dancing With The Stars' support and body redistribution

Chaz Bono talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com during a rehearsal for 'Dancing With The Stars.'

Chaz Bono is gearing up for his "Dancing With The Stars" debut on Monday and revealed that he has already lost about 10 pounds before the 13th season has even begun.

"[My body] changes and it kind of redistributes as well," Bono told OnTheRedCarpet.com of his weight loss at a rehearsal for the dancing competition. Bono and his partner Lacey Schwimmer went on to discuss the LGBT advocate's "glistening" calves, which Bono was impressed had become stronger already.

Though Bono said he wasn't worried about the flashy costuming, Schwimmer joked, "He just doesn't know that the first week he's wearing a see-through shirt with ruffle sleeves and shaking maracas."

Schwimmer recently Tweeted about how well the two were working together and was "thrilled" to have Bono, who is the first transgender contestant to compete on the show, as a partner. Bono was born Chastity Bono but underwent a sex change in 2009.

Bono talked about working with Schwimmer during his interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, saying that the two "instantly hit it off" and Schwimmer "has a great attitude for teaching me."

"He's lost five pounds in six days," Schwimmer told People magazine earlier in the month. "It's so great. He says he's not eating any differently, he's just dancing."

Schwimmer said that Bono is slowly loosening up and willing to be a little silly on the show. However, Bono, who is the only child of musicians Sonny Bono and Cher, does not want to dance to his parents' tunes.

"Chaz has already told me he doesn't want to dance to any of his parents' songs," the professional dancer told the magazine. "But the show really wants it to happen, so we'll see."

"He knows music like the back of his hand," Schwimmer told OnTheRedCarpet.com of Bono. "Well, he should. If he didn't, that would be a shame. He knows music, he knows how to count and stay in time, so that's something that I don't have to teach him."

Cher recently asked fans to defend her son against "haters" who didn't agree with Bono participating on the popular competition series.

"Lovelies! Chaz is Being Viciously Attacked on Blogs & Message boards about being on 'DWTS'! This is Still America right ? It took guts 2 do it," Cher wrote on Twitter Wednesday. "Can u guys check out sites & give him your support? BTW ... Mothers don't stop Getting angry with stupid bigots who [expletive] with their children," she said in another Tweet.

Bono has seen fans come out to support him in his "Dancing With The Stars" quest, rallying for him after he received rude comments.

"I've gotten just a tremendous amount of support, it's great," Bono told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

"Especially with some of the stuff we got early on when we were just starting the season," Schwimmer agreed. "We got some seriously bad stuff said about him, about me, about just the whole situation and it's really cool to see people turning around and just supporting and trying to tell people, it is okay, it's positive - you just have to get over it!"
