LA County beach water quality improved since last year

Water quality at local beaches has showed a marked improvement this summer compared to last year's testing results.

In a summer beach report of 447 California beaches released Tuesday, Heal the Bay gave 85 percent of Los Angles beaches high marks.

Coastal waters in Los Angeles County consistently test as the most polluted in the state.

However, Tuesday's report said 85 percent of Los Angeles beaches got a grade of A or B, compared to 79 percent last year.

The report says the improvement is largely because Long Beach scored its best summer water quality to date.
