Lady Gaga sues company for namesake trademark attempts

LOS ANGELES

The Grammy Award-winning pop star said Excite Worldwide LLC is interfering with her attempts to crate products associated with her name, including cosmetics and jewelry.

Excite Worldwide, which lists offices in Chicago and Nevada, has filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but they haven't yet been approved.

The company has not responded to press inquiries.

Her suit says customers could be duped into thinking she's affiliated with Excite Worldwide's products. She's seeking unspecified damages.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
