Police said 46-year-old David Cuthbert and 39-year-old Mary Gibson were walking toward a car filled with the victim's belongings.
When the man confronted them, he said Cuthbert took off in the car and Gibson ran away on foot.
Police arrived just in time to catch both suspects.
All of the victim's stolen items were returned.
