Authorities said they found the body of 28-year-old Maria Donnely after putting out a fire on South Meridith Avenue in Pasadena on Friday.
Further investigation led police to arrest her former boyfriend, 28-year-old Corey Green of Los Angeles.
Officials have not released more information on the case.
Green is charged with murder, and his bail was set at $1 million.
