Nat'l Cathedral to reopen after quake repairs

WASHINGTON

Cathedral officials said early damage estimates were in the tens of millions of dollars. Officials hope to raise at least $25 million from fundraisers to cover repair and operational costs.

The Cathedral's central and west front towers were damaged by the rare East Coast earthquake in August.

A safety perimeter remained in place while work continued.

The Cathedral is visited by about 35,000 people every month.
