Man shot dead in confrontation with deputies in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif.

Authorities said deputies were responding to a 911 call about 7:30 a.m. at a home in the 12300 block of San Dimas Street. A person told a dispatcher that a man with a gun was arguing with a person inside the home.

When arriving deputies confronted the man in the backyard, the man allegedly immediately pulled out a gun. Fearing for their safety, the deputies opened fire on the suspect and killed him.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No deputies or people inside the home were injured during the incident.

As is standard procedure in a deputy-involved shooting, the sheriff's Homicide Detail is investigating.
