Officials said Julius Williams, 33, and Kenneth Blanton, 35, both of Los Angeles, are responsible for passing counterfeit American Express Travelers Cheques to several stores.
In every instance, the suspects would buy a piece of clothing that cost around $10. They then would pay with the counterfeit check and get $90 in change, according to Moorpark detectives.
The total dollar loss is unknown, but it's estimated to be several thousand dollars.
Both suspects were on parole from state prison for similar crimes. Authorities arrested them during a routine visit with their parole officers.
Williams and Blanton were charged with forgery and commercial burglary. They're being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
