Fear, paranoia, guilt. She's a mess.
"It was interesting to always try and track the positive moments because it's really important to have some sort of hope," Olsen said.
In the film, Sarah Paulson plays her concerned older sister. John Hawkes is the creepy leader of the confined community she left behind.
But Olsen, the 22-year-old sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, is now looking ahead, confused, perhaps, by all of the attention she's been getting for her feature film debut.
"I might be saying something to my dad, off hand, and he'll be like, 'Lizzie, relax. This is your first time experiencing it. Enjoy every moment of it,'" she said.
"Martha Marcy May Marlene" opens Friday. It's rated R.
