Driver leads CHP in high-speed pursuit on I-5

LOS ANGELES

The chase started about 9:20 p.m. on the eastbound I-10 when the California Highway Patrol tried to pull over the driver of a blue Honda Civic because its headlights were off. Authorities said the driver was also maneuvering recklessly and passing traffic on the shoulder.

The suspect refused to stop and sped onto the 110 freeway, then onto the northbound 5 Freeway.

The driver came to a slow roll and eventually stopped a few feet of at least four CHP cruisers.

The officers held him at gunpoint before taking him into custody. There was no one else inside the car.
