Downey barricade ends in shooting, arrests

DOWNEY, Calif.

Officers with the Los Angeles Impact Task Force were serving a search warrant along the 1100 block of Old River School Road Tuesday night. Authorities say an /*officer-involved shooting*/ occurred, but no one was injured.

Two people were arrested. /*SWAT*/ officers thought there may have been a third suspect barricaded inside a townhome. An officer on scene said police put gas inside the home to see if they could flush the suspect out, but it turned out there was no one inside.

Those living in the area had to leave their townhomes Tuesday night and say they heard the commotion.

"My wife told me not to go downstairs because there was some people under our steps, and they were talking, whispering. I figured, this is not good. So I kind of stayed upstairs and waited it all out," said area resident Thomas Castaneda.

Typically, the L.A. Impact Taskforce investigates medium to high level drug trafficking, placing a high priority on people who are involved in the importation of drugs. The details surrounding this particular search warrant remain unknown.
