A 24-year-old Yorba Linda man was charged with double murder on Thursday in the stabbing deaths of his mother and brother.

Eder Herrera, 24, is accused of killing 53-year-old Raquel Estrada and 34-year-old Juan Herrera on Tuesday night at the home they all shared in the 4200 block of Trix Circle.

Authorities say Herrera stabbed his mother to death and left her body on the kitchen floor. He also allegedly stabbed his brother to death and left his body in a hallway. He then allegedly fled the scene and stayed at a friend's house.

The Brea Police Department arrested Herrera during a traffic stop the next morning after receiving a tip about the murders.

Authorities say he could face life in prison if convicted.

Herrera is being held on $2 million bail. His arraignment was rescheduled for Nov. 18.

A motive has not yet been determined.
