A man is being held on $1 million bail for the murder of a woman in Beverly Hills, the first homicide in the city this year.

Cathy Carrasco-Zanini, 58, was found dead in her home by police Wednesday during a welfare check on the 100 block of North Hamilton Drive, near the intersection of Wilshire and La Cienega boulevards.

The suspect, 54-year-old James Grzeslo, has been arrested on a homicide charge. It is believed that Grzeslo and Carrasco-Zanini knew each other. Police have not disclosed how the woman died.

The killing is the first in Beverly Hills since the fatal shooting of publicist Ronni Chasen last November. Chasen's death was among three homicides in the city last year.
