Prince Charles, the first in line to the UK throne, and Robert Pattinson of the "Twilight" vampire films have more in common besides their British heritage.

They're both related to Vlad the Impaler, a 15th-Century Romanian warlord said to have inspired Bram Stoker's iconic 1897 vampire novel, "Dracula."

Charles, 62, talks abouts his heritage in the UK series "Wild Carpathia," which is set to air in on the international Travel Channel in several European countries on October 30. The program promotes the preservation of forests in the Transylvania region of Romania.

"The genealogy shows that I am descended from Vlad the Impaler," Charles, father of Princes William and Harry and son of Queen Elizabeth II, says in the documentary. "So I do have a bit of a stake in the country."

Last year, Ancestry.com genealogist Anastasia Tyler said Pattinson, 25, was a distant cousin of the UK royal family, which is related to the Transylvanian leader.

"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to 'The Twilight Saga,'" she said. "Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life - making his story just as supernatural as the one he's playing on screen."

Ancestry.com also named other celebrities with blood ties to Vlad - former U.S. president George W. Bush, ex-presidential candidate John Kerry and Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the "Twilight" novels that inspired the films.

Pattinson plays vampire Edward Cullen alongside Kristen Stewart in the "Twilight" movies. News about his "Dracula" heritage was released just before the third movie, "Eclipse," hit theaters. The fourth installment of the hit series, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," is set to be released on November 18. Check out sneak peek clips below.
