Kristen Stewart says the upcoming "Twilight" film, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which contains a sex scene with her and Robert Pattinson, was originally given an R rating.

The 21-year-old actress, who plays heroine Bella Swan, made her comments to Glamour magazine, which features her on the cover of its December 2011 issue. The movie, the first part of the fourth installment in the fantasy romance series, hits theaters on November 18.

"It was so weird, it didn't even feel like we were doing a 'Twilight' film," Stewart said. "I was like, 'Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!' It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They recut it."

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - part 1" was eventually given a PG-13 rating. The hit franchise is most popular among female teenagers and young adults and is based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer.

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" depicts the wedding of Swan, a human, and Pattinson's character, vampire Edward Cullen, and the consequences of their union.

"Yes, in the honeymoon scene, we get to finally see what we've all been waiting for - some boot-knockin," cast member Jackson Rathbone, who plays Cullen's adopted brother, told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Pattinson said in March he wondered how the new film will be able to get by with a PG-13 rating because of the violence and sexual content featured in the script, telling Entertainment Weekly: "It's just a horror movie."

Rathbone also told OnTheRedCarpet.com that Stewart rendered him and their other co-stars breathless as she walked down the aisle in Bella Swan's dress while filming the wedding of Cullen and Swan.

Pattinson recently joked that the scene was more realistic than anticipated.

"We used a real priest," Pattinson joked during a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday (see clip below). "So technically we are already married because he did all the things you would do in a normal ceremony. So we don't have a civil union in law, but I guess in the church we are actually married."

The two actors have been linked romantically for years and have often fielded questions about an alleged real-life relationship.

Stewart told Glamour magazine, when asked about it: "It's funny when this question comes up, because I sort of feel like, I don't really care! People can say whatever they want. I don't like to give away gems that people are gonna be like, 'Oh my God!' So I'll always just shrug it off - in fact, I always find it kind of funny, and not just with Rob."

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" also stars other returning cast members such as Taylor Lautner, whose werewolf character, Jacob Black, remains jealous of the tragic couple, and Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz, who play Cullen's other adopted siblings. Their parents are portrayed by Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser.

The previous three movies, the first of which was released in 2008, have grossed more than 1.8 billion worldwide. The second part of "Breaking Dawn" is due to be released on Nov. 16, 2012.
