Macy's will open its doors at midnight for Black Friday shoppers

NEW YORK

This is the first time the department store will open that early.

While Macy's Executive Vice President of Marketing Martine Reardon said the expanded hours are in response to customer requests, the store might also be trying to keep up with other retailers who are offering customers an extra-early shopping start.

Just last Friday, Target announced that it will also be opening its doors at midnight and will be offering its Black Friday deals beginning at that time.

Both retailers will be open for 23 hours straight.
