State executions halted until at least 2013

It will be 2013 at the earliest before the suspension of California's death penalty is lifted.

Government attorneys have agreed to resume their court battle with attorneys for inmates next September.

That pushes back any scheduled executions until at least 2013.

California stopped executing inmates six years ago after a federal judge ruled the state's execution process was flawed.

There are currently 720 people on California's death row.
