The singer will undergo throat surgery later this month to remove a polyp on his vocal chords.
The surgery is a minor outpatient procedure, but it will require complete vocal rest followed by an indefinite period of recuperation.
Urban will do all performances that only require him to sing one song, such as the Country Music Association Awards next week. He is nominated for CMA entertainer and male vocalist of the year.
He will reschedule all other performances for next year.
