The incident happened on Dartmouth Street near Crest Drive on Thursday.
The girl told investigators that a man came up behind her and grabbed her shoulder. He tried to knock her down, but she was able to pull away and run for help.
The girl told detectives that the man had dark skin and was between 30 and 40 years old.
