Teen arrested in fatal Camarillo stabbing

CAMARILLO, Calif.

Police are seeking further suspects in the Monday stabbing.

Camarillo resident Juan Carlos Valadez, 18, was walking in an alley on the 300 block of Arneill Rd. at about 3:45 p.m. when he was confronted by a "known suspect."

Valadez ran away, but the suspect chased him and caught up to him near the Arneill Rd. intersection, where he stabbed Valadez.

The suspect fled the scene with at least two other males, according to police.

Paramedics responded. Valadez was declared dead at the scene.

Camarillo Police believe the incident was gang-related. Valadez and the known suspect are known to be associated with rival Camarillo-area gangs, according to the department.

Police detectives arrested a 15-year-old male Tuesday at about 3 p.m. in connection with the homicide. The investigation remained open and further suspects were sought.
