Billy Graham hospitalized for possible pneumonia

ASHEVILLE, N.C.

The 93-year-old evangelist was taken to a hospital near his home after suffering from congestion, a cough and a slight fever.

The hospital released a statement saying he was smiling and waving to staff as he came in. His personal physician says graham is in stable condition.

Graham led a worldwide ministry for six decades and has given counsel to every U.S. president since Harry Truman.

He has stayed at home in Montreat in recent years due to age-related conditions such as macular degeneration and hearing loss.

He was last hospitalized in May, when he spent five days at the same hospital for pneumonia.

His most recent book, "Nearing Home," was published last month.
