Heigl teamed up with the comedy website funnyordie.com to launch a new website aimed at getting the word out about spaying and neutering. In doing so, she's taking a funny approach to a very serious problem.
Money raised from merchandising will go to a foundation in her late brother's name to improve the plight of animals in need.
Heigl believes you have to think outside the box to getting the word out, which explains her sometimes surprising public service announcement.
"A lot of people say to me, 'Katherine, you promote neutering so much, you must really love animals.' And I'm like, 'Yeah, they're OK, I guess.' But the real reason I'm so pro-neutering is I hate balls," Heigl says in the video.
