Ousted LA housing chief gets $1.2M in dismissal

LOS ANGELES

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Housing Authority Board has agreed to pay Monteil nearly $1.2 million in connection with his dismissal.

Montiel was fired in March.

The board said it had lost confidence in his ability to lead the Housing Authority.

Critics say Montiel's hefty departure package is an example of poor management.

Montiel's lawyer, however, defends the settlement, saying Montiel's contract entitles him to 18 months pay if terminated.
