Authorities were called the couple's home Saturday night and arrested Virginia Valdez on suspicion of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse.
It's not clear what prompted the alleged attack.
She was released on Sunday after posting $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court next month.
"He must have been asleep or drunk. He got caught doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing," said neighbor Cliff Reed.
Police say the 62-year-old husband was treated and released from a nearby hospital.
