Project Angel Food holds annual Divine Design fundraiser

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.

The ballroom at the Beverly Hilton was packed with people helping to raise money so Project Angel Food will still have wings to do its work.

Last year alone, local volunteers cooked and delivered almost 250,000 meals.

While the evening offered glamour, it means Project Angel Food can offer hope.

"The work they do is fantastic," actor Bryan Batt said. "For every five dollars they make, someone gets a great meal."

A good chunk of cash was also raised through the selling of a variety of merchandise at the marketplace next to the Hilton.

Costume designer Patricia Field of "Sex in the City" fame accepted the iconic fashion visionary award at the affair.

Thomas Keller, got the iconic chef and restaurateur honor and actress Viola Davis accepted the organization's woman of style award, understanding the overall importance of charity.

"I feel like that my purpose in life is to give back," Davis said. "I mean, what else is there? You can't just feed yourself. That's a kind of limited sense of life. You have to live a life beyond yourself."
