Last total lunar eclipse of year visible from western US

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.

There won't be another one for three years.

The last lunar eclipse was in June, but because of the positions of the moon and Earth, those of us in the western U.S. missed out.

But this time, the western half of the U.S. will have the best views, and the scene from the Pacific will be prime - just before dawn.

A lunar eclipse is where the Earth passes between the moon and the sun.
