Music industry exec shot in Hollywood rampage

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES

John Atterberry was sitting in his Mercedes Benz when the suspect began shooting at drivers from the middle of the street near Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street.

A bullet entered Atterberry's car through the windshield and struck him in the jaw. He is recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Atterberry's long-time girlfriend, Sophia Holguin, said she's been at his bedside since Friday.

She said she hopes her presence gives him strength and appreciates the support Atterberry has received.

"He is one of a kind and always knows how to put a smile on your face," said Holguin, who has known Atterberry for 11 years. "He's an awesome friend to have, he's an awesome person to have in your life."

Atterberry has worked with the likes of the Spice Girls, Brandy and Jessica Simpson.

Two other passing motorists were also injured during the incident before police shot and killed the suspect, 26-year-old Tyler Brehm.

Amateur video taken at the scene showed the suspect pacing back and forth near the busy intersection, firing close to 20 rounds from what appeared to be a .40 caliber handgun.

Several witnesses reported seeing him reload at least once. One witness said the suspect was screaming that he wanted to die.
