LAPD homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a hotel near MacArthur Park early Monday morning.

A cleaning crew made the grim discovery on the first floor of the Olympic Hotel on the 700 block of South Westlake Avenue just after midnight. The woman was beaten to death, suffering blunt-force trauma to her face and head.

Authorities say the room was registered to a man who checked out Sunday at about 11 a.m.

The victim, who was about 40, was not identified.

Police are treating the case as a probable homicide. The man who checked out was at least a person of interest in the case, according to the LAPD.

Anyone with information related to the case should contact the LAPD tip line at (877) LAPD-24-7.
