Google's new flight search irks competitors

BURBANK, Calif.

Until now, flight search sites like Expedia and Orbitz have been the go-to Web pages to find bargain airfares. Those online travel sites are not happy with the way Google is pushing its own Flight Search above all others. The websites claim Google now pushes their links further down on the screen where Web surfers might miss them.

In a statement, Google counters by saying it would "build tools that drive more traffic to airline and online travel agency sites."

In this competition between websites for price comparison, we expect the consumer to emerge the winner.

Some travelers so far are pleased with Google's service.

"I think it's a great idea. I think it's probably going to be better than any other search engine site for travel, since Google is already the primary search engine for everything else," said West Virginia resident Sam Miller, who was traveling through Burbank airport.
