Suspect arrested for stabbing in front of Oxnard market

OXNARD, Calif.

Police responded to the stabbing at the La Gloria Market in the 400 block of Oxnard Boulevard at about 4 p.m. on Monday. The 62-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital with a stab wound.

Witnesses said the suspect walked away from the scene and was last seen on the corner of Fourth Street and Oxnard Boulevard. During the fight, the victim may have struck the suspect on the forehead with a belt and buckle.

On Wednesday, police received a tip that the stabbing suspect was seen boarding a bus in the area of Esplanade Drive. Police were able to catch up with 57-year-old Macario Ramirez on the bus at Gonzales Road and Rose Avenue, near St. Johns Medical Center.

The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.
