Fighter jets intercept Cessna in violation over LA airspace; drugs found on plane

LOS ANGELES

The /*Cessna*/ was in violation of a temporary flight restriction over the city.

The two fighter jets followed the Cessna until it landed at Long Beach Airport at approximately 12:30 p.m., according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (/*NORAD*/). The plane was met by local law enforcement.

The Secret Service confirmed that a plane flew in restricted airspace of Marine One, the helicopter carrying President Barack Obama, at 11:40 a.m. near Los Angeles International Airport.

The pilot was interviewed at Long Beach Airport after landing, and authorities concluded the incursion was not intentional, according to the Secret Service.

The Secret Service confirmed that narcotics were found on the plane. The type of narcotics was not released.

A source told Eyewitness News the narcotics recovered was marijuana.
