Prosecutors have filed two counts of murder against 32-year-old Lorna Valle, with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and assault on a child causing death.
Valle was arrested on Feb. 15 after authorities found 1-year-old Lindsay and 5-year-old Marian unresponsive inside a bathtub in a standup shower at their home in the 900 block of West 50th Place.
The father of the girls, Jose Humberto Lopez, told police that he found Valle pushing the girls underwater. The 1-year-old was dead when firefighters arrived.
Marian was hospitalized at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, but Lopez decided to take her off life support earlier this week to donate her organs.
Valle is being held without bail. Her arraignment has been scheduled for March 15. Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty.
