Dog on NM freeway causes fiery multi-vehicle wreck

February 26, 2012 12:00:00 AM PST
A dog running on a busy interstate freeway in New Mexico caused a fiery multi-vehicle wreck Sunday.

A driver on the Interstate 40 in Albuquerque freeway pulled over and got out of his car when he saw a dog running on the roadway.

A female driver saw the man on the road and slammed on her brakes.

A tractor-trailer hauling 36,000 pounds slammed into the woman's vehicle and caught fire, according to police.

The three involved were not injured. The dog died.

The freeway was temporarily closed for cleanup and was re-opened by Sunday night.
