Authorities say the suspect was riding his bike near Lomita Boulevard and Normandie Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when he crossed paths with police officers, grabbed his gun and attempted to shoot.
That's when officers shot and killed the suspect.
One officer was taken to a nearby hospital for a knee injury but was released a short time later.
Authorities say the suspect's pistol was found at the scene.
