Granada Hills Charter HS wins 2nd CA Academic Decathlon

LOS ANGELES

Granada Hills Charter High School defended its crown at the 33rd Annual California Academic Decathlon in Sacramento.

There was a celebration in front of the school for the team Monday morning. The team beat out around 13,000 students from an estimated 500 high schools.

"I couldn't have gotten this far without my teachers, my friends and my family, and it's all thanks to them that we're here today with our state championship," said team member Jimmy Wu.

Granada Hills now goes on to the national decathlon in Albuquerque, N.M., where they won last year. El Camino Real Charter High School in Woodland Hills came in second place and L.A.'s Marshall High School took third place.
