Disabled IE woman gets new wheelchair after theft

MORENO VALLEY, Calif.

Malaika Wright suffers from cerebral palsy. Thieves stole her wheelchair from the front yard of her family's moreno valley home while she got ready for school last week.

The 41-year-old woman received a new, custom chair on Friday, thanks to the fundraising efforts of The Better Life Mobility Center, Californians for Disability Rights and the Moreno Valley Police.

"I know that Malaika appreciates this, she can't say it. It allows her go to school and go places with us, it's something she really needs," said Wright's father, Phillip.

Disney Resorts and the employees group Cast Able have also arranged for Wright and her family to spend a day at Disneyland, and The Better Life Mobility Center will provide a special van to get them there.

Disney is the parent company of ABC7.
